For those of you that are interested in finding out more about cowboy action shooting, or if you know someone that is, on March 11, 2017, at 10:00am in the classroom at Heartland Public Shooting Park, we will be hosting a class introducing you to this fun and exciting sport.
We will be covering the guns, gear, basic rules, how stages work, and will have a general Q&A session as well. Presentation will allow you to see the equipment, and will be both presentation and video format. No charge for the event, and we hope you can join us.
Please contact us with any questions or if you would like us to hold you a spot (pre-registration not required).
Thanks to all that came out to the 2016 Iron Hero, where every stage was based on a scene from a different Randolph Scott movie. Even with some last minute cancellations, we still ended up with 42 shooters, and it was a full day of smiles and gun smoke. 2017 should be even better, and we look forward to you joining us. The results can be found below
A number of you were wondering who was coming to the 2016 Iron Hero match on October 15. We nearly increased shooters by 50% over last year, and we thank all of you for making the match a success. We also have some nice door prizes lined up. For those that didn’t make it in, we hope you will join us next year
Who’s Coming 2016
The weather was beautiful and we had a large group out for our match. Only one more match to practice before the Iron Hero match in October
August 2016 Match Results
Although we only had six cowboys at the match today, we were lucky enough to welcome a cowboy from Kansas to our little match today. The heat held off most of the morning, and there were quite a few smiles as we worked through six stages. The stages we shot today used the new hotel prop, the ticket office, and the wagon, and included a stage based on the movie Open Range.
We hope you can join us in August, as we get ready to shoot another six stages. For those of you who are coming in from out of town, the Grand Island Rifle Club hosts their monthly cowboy shoots the day after ours.
Match results for today are as follows:
Don’t forget about the Iron Hero Annual on October 15. Get your entries in while you can, and if you want to camp, please call the park and reserve your spot, as spots with services are filling quickly.
The Platte Valley Gunslingers would like to thank those of you that came out to shoot with us during the 2015 shooting season, and we would like to invite all of you back in the coming shooting season. We were able to coordinate our schedules with the Grand Island Rifle Club once again, so for those of you who are from out of town and would like to make it a Grand Island cowboy weekend, come on out and join both clubs for an inexpensive weekend of playing cowboy and twelve stages over two days.
The schedule for the year is as follows:
- April 16
- July 16
- August 20
- September 17
- And don’t forget about the Iron Duke annual on October 15 (eight stages in one day)
For the normal monthly matches, check in begins at 8:30, and rounds go downrange at 9:15. We hope you can join us.
